“Let us embrace what
is true and discover the self together.”
DL Hoefer
One on One
Our world is so distracting that
most people go through life without ever gaining a sense of who they are and
what they are about. In such a world we
are in constant search of meaning and purpose.
This lack of meaning often lends
itself to issues of low self esteem and a sense of futility.
A big part of this negative spiral is that when we do allow an objective
look at ourselves we tend to feel even worse.
Trying to become a better
person, rather than experiencing and observing the person that we already are, robs
us of understanding the moment we are in right now.
Rather than a client working
alone in his or her vulnerability, Hoefer allows his own challenges and
weaknesses to be a part of the dialog – supporting mutual reflection and open exploration. “Every life is a phenomenon associated with
influences and conditions that change of their own accord with awareness – I’ve
never found anyone to blame for anything.”
The truthfulness that we share becomes
more valuable than the issues we originally came together to resolve. Every attribute we
could wish for derives from truthfulness:
personal value, courage,
identity, living in the moment … morality. In
sharing truthfully we not only gain relativity to our lives, but open the doors
to ever expanding maturity.
What eventually manifests out of
truthfulness with our self is our self,
along with the relationships, occupations, and environments that support us. This is given as freely and effortlessly as
the confusion arising out of misdirection and distraction.
