About "Discover The Self"

Most people think they know who they are based upon what they think and feel about
themselves. But these thoughts and feelings have nothing to do with your true Self. Your
thoughts and feelings about yourself are really just part of conditioned thinking. In Discover
The Self, you will learn how to break free from living within concepts of self to living in the
experience of your true, great Self.

Everyone has a natural desire to become his or her ideal self. This ideal self is the feeling of
greatness that lives deep within the soul. However, the average person is plagued by
habitual mental and emotional patterns. In a sense, most people are a victim of their minds.
One of the most important breakthroughs that must occur on the path to Self-discovery, is to
make friends with your mind. As long as you continue to react to your thoughts and feelings,
you stay bound to experiencing life through the limitations of the mind.  

One of the best ways to overcome old habitual thought patterns is to simply remove your
attention from them and re-direct your attention to your true Self, the part of yourself that
actually contains love, joy, peace and tranquility. If you keep dwelling on the contents of the
mind, nothing really changes, you are going to continue to think and feel the same old way.
Your habitual attitude also plays an important part in maintaining habitual emotional patterns.
It is important to learn
the importance of attitude in becoming established in your highest
state.

In
Discover The Self, you will learn how to direct your attention to the source of your
greatness, to help disengage yourself from having reactions or becoming distracted by those
old habitual patterns. You can discount them as being insignificant, as all negativity truly is.
Even the most troubling of thoughts and feelings are trivial. When you keep reacting to these
old negative patterns, you perpetuate their existence. The average person naturally places
their attention and focus on the contents of the mind. If the contents are predominately
positive, they are generally happy. However, if the contents are predominately mixed, positive
and negative, then happiness also comes and goes. And, if the predominate thoughts and
feelings are negative, like anxiety or depression, then the state of mind suffers constantly.

Most people keep their attention on the contents of the mind because they haven’t learned to
keep their attention on their true, inner Self. As young children we were filled with the natural
joy of our inner Self. As we developed the mind using language to relate to the world, we
learned to shift our attention away from our predominate inner state to the ever shifting
contents of the mind and emotions.
